Jimmy Donaldson, aka “MrBeast,” is a 22-year-old American YouTube star, philanthropist, and entrepreneur who is best known for his money-giveaways and crazy antics online. With a regular habit of giving away hundreds or thousands of dollars, many people are curious to know how he continues to make money with his attention-grabbing stunts. As one of the highest-paid creators on YouTube, MrBeast’s net worth is estimated to be $25 million.

MrBeast Net Worth: $25 MILLION

Who Is MrBeast?

Jimmy Donaldson’s rise to fame involved a series of unsuccessful attempts at mastering the YouTube algorithm. From experimenting with different types of content to eventually figuring out the winning formula, it’s not only his net worth that’s come a long way since his first upload almost 10 years ago.

Starting out under the handle “MrBeast6000” as a teenager back in February 2012, the aspiring YouTuber initially tried his hand at different content trends including reaction videos, funny compilations, and video game commentary.

While he rarely made an appearance in any of his videos, he gradually started gaining a steady following around 2015. This was largely due to his “worst intros” series that showcased poorly made YouTube introductions. As his popularity grew, so did his net worth.

How Did He Become So Famous?

Jimmy Donaldson’s YouTube channel had grown to 30,000 subscribers by mid-2016. But it wasn’t until January 2017 that he truly became a viral star – and his net worth started to rapidly grow. Around this time, he uploaded a video which showed him counting to 100,000 in 44 hours. It immediately became a hit and went on to be viewed more than 21 million times.

Finally, he had discovered a formula that worked for him – and he decided to go all out with it. He followed up with videos that showed him performing similar stunts such as reading the dictionary, saying “Logan Paul” 100,000 times, and watching a music video on repeat for 10 hours straight. By November 2017, MrBeast had reached a million subscribers.

He went on to create more content in the form of outlandish challenges and donation videos. This led to the beginning of “stunt philanthropy,” or a series of videos that would show him giving large sums of money to strangers. A few popular ones included doling out thousands of dollars to Uber drivers, opening up a car dealership to give out cars for free, and handing out money to small-time creators on Twitch and YouTube – ultimately helping other creators increase their net worth too.

By 2018, MrBeast’s net worth had grown so much that he managed to spend almost $1 million on these stunts, earning him the title of “YouTube’s biggest philanthropist.”

His channel continued to pick up steam through elaborate competitions that pitted strangers against each other for thousands, and sometimes even millions, of dollars. In one particularly popular video from December 2019, he can be seen challenging people to keep their hand on a stack of $1 million dollars – the last one to back out got to keep the money.

How Did He Make His First Million Dollars?

With his growing popularity and consistent dedication to content creation, MrBeast’s YouTube channel was able to achieve a steady growth rate of around 50 percent per year. This meant that he was able to generate income through six-figure brand deals that helped fund in-video ads. His earnings (and subsequently his net worth) skyrocketed once he became one of the most-viewed YouTube creators in 2019.

With a majority of his revenue coming from YouTube, MrBeast started making $1.5 million on the platform every month. These earnings included ad revenue only and not brand deals. From spending $10,000 on the production of a single video, he could now increase his video production budget – which eventually went up to a $300,000 expenditure per video.

Some publications even reported that in August 2020, MrBeast spent a whopping $3 million on production costs, salaries, rent and more. While that may seem extravagant to most, it certainly has not put a dent in his net worth.

The increased earnings meant that he could now grow his channel even further, and he ended up hiring four of his childhood friends — Chris, Chandler, Garret, and Jake — to work for the MrBeast empire. Often seen making cameos in his videos, each of his friends also seemed to have gained popularity through his channel.

Eventually, Jimmy Donaldson launched several other YouTube channels including Beast Reacts, MrBeast2, MrBeast Shorts, and MrBeast Gaming. These additional channels also achieved significant success with more than a million people subscribing to each one of them. All of these have also contributed to increasing his net worth over time.

How Much Does He Earn On Social Media?

MrBeast is known for pioneering a new genre of YouTube videos that involves large-scale giveaways and competitions. An advantage of producing original content is that it helps to generate a large number of views. On average, a YouTube channel is estimated to receive anywhere between $3-$5 per 1,000 video views – and MrBeast’s channel currently has over 11 billion views.

With such an impactful social media presence, MrBeast’s success is no longer limited to YouTube – as he continues to expand his net worth empire to other platforms too. But what’s most interesting is that he uses each of these platforms not only to make money, but to give it away too.

Donaldson has managed to raise tens of millions of dollars for various charities by reaching out to his millions of followers on Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook. This includes his famous “Team Trees” initiative – a collaborative fundraising project that raised $20 million for the Arbor Day Foundation to plant trees. As of October 2020, the project has planted more than 4.6 million trees.

His extravagant stunt videos have also helped to raise donations for homeless shelters, the Veterans Army Wounded Warrior Program, Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and local animal shelters. For instance, in December 2018, MrBeast donated $100,000 worth of clothing along with other items to homeless shelters.

It’s also worth noting that MrBeast’s second biggest source of income is his merchandise line. In fact, it’s estimated to account for nearly 40% of his annual income. Available on shopmrbeast.com, the line includes everything from T-shirts to backpacks – at prices ranging from $13 going all the way up to $200. These played a significant role in boosting his net worth too.

In November 2020, Donaldson announced that he would soon be launching a virtual restaurant called “MrBeast Burger.” For this, he teamed up with over 300 restaurants across the United States, allowing fans to order the burgers via an online delivery service.

Within no time, MrBeast Burger app became the number one free app on the Apple Store, and over a million Beast Burgers have been sold so far

Another one of Jimmy Donaldson’s successful ventures includes a multiplayer endurance game called “Finger On The App.” The mobile game encourages players to keep a finger on their phone screen in the app with the last person to remove it winning $25,000. The app became so popular that MrBeast announced a sequel titled “Finger On The App 2” which was released in March 2021 – and this time, the grand prize was increased to $100,000.

By not limiting his content to only one platform, MrBeast gave himself a chance to diversify his revenue streams through different projects and ventures – these proved to be valuable additions to his empire and eventually, his overall net worth.

MrBeast’s Income From Online Courses

MrBeast’s success is largely a product of viral content, smart business choices, and… money. But it is also primarily because he managed to do what most content creators still struggle to achieve: mastery over the algorithm.

As a college dropout struggling to make ends meet, Jimmy Donaldson had set out to solve one of the biggest mysteries on social media: what does it take to make a video go viral?

After a series of phone calls with friends, YouTube-related homework assignments, and thorough analysis of viral content, he was finally able to crack the platform’s secret code. Today, his videos rack up more than 20 million views each

At Nas Academy, we believe that there are plenty of content creators who stand to benefit from MrBeast’s knowledge of YouTube’s analytics. By learning how to make videos go viral, creators have a chance to grow their own following and make money on social media too. But most importantly, it will help them understand how one of the biggest YouTubers managed to make the algorithm work in his favor.

This is also a great opportunity for MrBeast to further increase his net worth, especially as the market worth of global online education is projected to increase to $319 billion by 2025. According to a report by Research and Markets, a growing number of students are now adopting online education due to its cost-effective model and flexibility in learning from anywhere, and at any time.

It means that content creators can now empower themselves with the skills they need to make it big on any social media platform – regardless of where they are in the world. This is where we step in, to help connect more aspiring creators with their favorite YouTubers and filmmakers through a combination of on-demand courses and live sessions.

Our mission goes beyond sharing knowledge; we’re here to encourage more creators to make a living from doing what they love most. Whether it’s filming a one-minute video, crushing it on TikTok, or becoming a great filmmaker, we want content creators to learn it directly from the people who know how to do it best.
